people we love to work with
Rarely do we every work alone. Nearly every project we do at deep requires the help of someone in some way, whether it’s photography, styling, illustration, or whatever. The point is, over the years we’ve had the chance to work with some pretty wonderful people that we’d like other people to work with so that everyone can know everyone and we can all have a big party in 2015 where we celebrate great work and big fat friendships. Here are some of the people we love to work with and why.
Ralph Smith is an incredibly talented, versatile shooter with an outstanding staff and studio that has helped us on a number of projects for Minor’s, Stouffer’s, Nescafé, and other brands. And the atmosphere is so laid back, at any moment you might find Pickles at your feet. (That will make sense if you use them.)
A truly amazing collection of talent in one beautiful studio in St. Louis, FK has helped us on Nescafé, Everpure, Sjora, and whole bunch of other things (including the homepage of deepgroup.com). Always hospitable, always fun, always great work. Plus, Jay Baker was in a Warrant video. For real.
Simply great to work with, Brenda’s copywriting and concepting skills have helped on several brands and projects (she even came up with the name for Sjora). She’s always positive and has never failed to impress us. She honestly makes you feel better about the world. Strange, but true.
Ben’s illustrations have been essential to deep since the day we began. He’s easy going but don’t let that fool you, with one pass of his hand he can render a simple graphite sketch that can bring an idea to life and his complete works of art, and range of styles, are astounding. And if you meet him, he’s a teddy bear on a Harley. 417-831-2119.
Tom’s been a photographer/friend of the Marlin Network for decades. We can’t say for sure, but we think he’s shot everything. Literally. He may even have a baby picture of you. And let’s just say he kinda likes the Rolling Stones. And by kinda likes, we mean loves. Great man. Great shots. 417-864-6323.
We turn to these fine gents and ladies when we find ourselves navel deep in an online conundrum (including programming deepgroup.com), and they always make good things happen. Maybe that’s because they’re good people. Or maybe it’s because their parents are good people. Either way, they’re really good.
Illustrator extraordinaire, Shawn has helped us on loads of presentations and on creating final, original artwork for pieces like the Marlin Network NRA ‘08 invitation and website. He has yet to spit in our faces, even when asked to work with little time to spare, so for that (and his incredible ability) we like him a lot.
Susie is a fabulous, fabulously sassy food stylist who is extremely professional and casual simultaneously, and loves to share ideas—even if they fall outside of the project at hand. To quote one smitten deep person, “Susie has a brilliant mind, lu·mi·nes·cent personality, and hands of gold with a heart to match.” That sounds pretty damn good.
